Sunroof Replacement for the 2023-2027 Tesla Semi
If you're hauling freight in a 2023-2027 Tesla Semi, you already know the cab is built around maximum visibility and aerodynamics. The roof glass on these electric rigs isn't just a window; it's a massive, heavy piece of structural engineering. When a rogue piece of gravel kicks up on the highway and shatters that sunroof, you can't just slap a piece of tape on it and keep driving. Structural integrity matters when you're pulling a fully loaded trailer. I've been replacing heavy-duty auto glass for years, and swapping out the roof glass on a Tesla Semi requires specialized tools, muscle, and a lot of patience.
Our Hands-On Replacement Process
Let's walk through exactly how my crew and I handle this job out in the field.
- Interior Prep: We start by tarping the entire inside of the cab. The Semi has massive displays and sensitive electronics sitting right under that glass. We make sure no shattered glass or old urethane drops onto your dash or seats.
- Glass Removal: We use heavy-duty braided wire cut-out systems to slowly slice through the thick factory seal. You can't pry this glass out without bending the aluminum frame, so we take our time and cut it clean.
- Surface Cleaning: Once the broken panel is out of the way, we scrape the pinch weld right down to a thin, even layer of the original urethane. If you don't clean the channel properly, the new glass will leak. Simple as that.
- Primer Application: We brush on a high-grade, fast-drying glass primer over any bare metal spots we exposed during removal. This step stops rust dead in its tracks and gives the new glue something strong to grab onto.
- Adhesive and Installation: We pump a thick, consistent bead of premium automotive urethane around the entire perimeter. Because the Semi's roof glass is incredibly heavy, we use heavy-duty suction cups and a coordinated team lift to drop the new sunroof perfectly into place on the first try.
Mobile Service Across the GTA
You can't exactly maneuver a Class 8 truck with a busted roof into a standard auto glass shop. That's exactly why we bring our mobile operation directly to your fleet yard or driveway. We cover the entire Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Whether your rig is parked at a depot in Vaughan, waiting on a load in Richmond Hill, or getting routine maintenance out in Markham, we show up with the right glass and equipment ready to work.
