Sunroof Replacement for Toyota Highlander & Grand Highlander (2020-2027)
If you drive a newer Toyota Highlander or the recently released Grand Highlander, you already know that massive panoramic sunroof is one of the best features on the truck. But when a stray rock on the highway shatters that glass, or a failing track mechanism cracks the panel, it turns into a massive headache. I've been replacing auto glass for a long time, and I can tell you straight up: swapping the roof glass on these 2020-2027 Toyota models is not a job for amateurs.
Toyota engineered these panoramic roofs with incredibly tight tolerances, sensitive pinch protection sensors, and a complex water drainage system. If the technician rushes the job or uses cheap materials, you will end up with annoying wind noise on the highway or water soaking your headliner during the next heavy rain.
How We Do the Job Right
When I pull up to work on your SUV, I follow a strict, hands-on process to make sure the new glass fits and functions exactly like it did from the factory.
- Protecting the Interior: When sunroofs break, tempered glass goes absolutely everywhere. Before turning a single wrench, I lay down heavy protective covers over your seats, center console, and dash to keep your interior spotless.
- Safe Removal: I carefully drop the headliner just enough to access the mounting points, unbolt the hardware, and lift the broken panel out without letting the frame scratch your roof paint.
- Surface Cleaning & Track Prep: This is the step the quick-lube style auto glass guys skip. I vacuum every single shard of glass out of the tracks and clear out the corner drain tubes. If glass dust gets stuck in the track grease, your new roof will bind up and burn out the motor.
- Primer and Adhesive Application: For the stationary glass sections, we apply the proper glass primer and use high-quality, OEM-grade urethane adhesive. This guarantees a watertight structural bond that meets Toyota's strict factory safety specs.
